OpenAI Signals Q1 2026 report (self-reported)
OpenAI published its Q1 2026 Signals update, arguing ChatGPT is going mainstream — used by a broader mix of people, in more countries, and for more recurring tasks.
- OpenAI's Signals Q1 2026 report says consumer ChatGPT growth broadened across age groups — users over 35 gained message share — and that users with typically feminine names now account for over half of users whose gender it can infer, after reaching parity last year. OpenAI
- Adoption deepened geographically between Q4 2025 and Q1 2026: the Dominican Republic and Haiti each rose nine places, Japan eight, Mexico and Tanzania six, and Brazil, Costa Rica, Myanmar, and Papua New Guinea five.
- The data also shows ChatGPT used for a wider range of work-related tasks on consumer plans, with more specialized activities gaining share beyond writing and information lookup.
