At Google I/O this week, Google launched Gemini 3.5 Flash, generally available today via its agent-first development platform Google Antigravity, the Gemini API in Google AI Studio and Android Studio. Gemini 3.5 Flash delivers intelligence that rivals large flagship models at speeds expected from the Flash series, outperforming Gemini 3.1 Pro on challenging coding and agentic benchmarks like Terminal-Bench 2.1 (76.2%), GDPval-AA (1656 Elo) and MCP Atlas (83.6%) , per Google's I/O recap. Google is unifying on Antigravity as the only platform you need for agent-first development, took what it learned from how developers used Gemini CLI and rolled those insights into the Antigravity CLI, and is encouraging users to migrate to Antigravity CLI with a published porting guide . With Antigravity 2.0 and the all-new Antigravity CLI, developers can spin up specialized subagents to tackle complex workflows, all protected by built-in cross-platform terminal sandboxing, credential masking, and hardened Git policies .

This is platform consolidation announced as a developer gift. Gemini CLI was Google's open, low-friction surface; Antigravity is its branded, enterprise-licensed agent harness. Every "migration guide" in developer-tools history has been a one-way door, and the language here ("we encourage users to migrate," "unified agentic experience across all your surfaces") is the standard tell. The benchmark numbers are real and the price-per-token is genuinely good, but the strategic move is moving the agentic primitive — the loop, the sandbox, the credential boundary — from a CLI any tool can wrap into a platform Google controls.
