Cognizant announced Secure AI Services on May 7 — an integrated offering to secure, govern, and scale AI and agentic systems. The architecture has three pillars: a secure Agent Development Lifecycle that bakes protection into design, build, test, and deploy; a Neuro Cybersecurity control plane that unifies AI signals with enterprise security telemetry; and a Responsible AI continuous-trust layer for traceability and policy enforcement. Cognizant frames the offer as a move from "assumed trust" to "provable trust" — secured at build time and at run time.

Most agent products in 2026 ship a capability and a press release; Cognizant is shipping a control plane and asking enterprises to treat the agent as a feature of it. That's the inversion enterprise buyers have been waiting for since the first wave of unsupervised browser agents started leaking out of pilots. The mechanism worth tracking is whether Cognizant's "provable trust" actually constrains agent actions per-user-per-session, or whether it functionally means a logging dashboard with an evidence pipeline attached — those are very different products even if they describe themselves the same way. Either way, the bet here is that for a Fortune 1000 buyer, the procurement risk on agent deployment now exceeds the procurement risk on a model choice, and Cognizant is positioning to own the contract on the former.

Add an agent-action audit-log requirement to your standard AI vendor RFP template before next quarter's renewals start. Specifically: require the vendor to demonstrate per-action provenance (which agent took which action on whose behalf, citing which data, at what timestamp), and require an exportable, queryable log retained for the duration of your audit window. If the vendor can't produce that on a demo call, that's a redline you want surfaced before a deployment goes live, not after.
