Two Major Healthcare IT Events Announced for Spring 2026
HIMSS26 will run May 19-21 in Copenhagen as a 3-day conference and exhibition focused on health IT leadership. The event promises hands-on learning and CE-accredited sessions (per Healthcare IT News). The AI in Healthcare Forum follows in June 25-26 in Boston, targeting clinicians, executives, technologists, researchers, and innovators with a stated focus on real-world AI application in health and care settings.

The Agenda Separation Matters More Than The Dates
HIMSS has historically been a broad-church conference: CIOs, compliance officers, procurement teams, and vendors all convene under one roof to discuss standards, security, EHR upgrades, and industry policy. A dedicated AI forum two months later signals that AI in healthcare is now substantial enough to warrant its own event, with its own audience calibration.
This is not new in tech (AWS has re:Invent; Salesforce has Dreamforce and TrailblazerDX). But for healthcare IT, it marks a shift. General IT infrastructure concerns no longer fit neatly alongside deployment of clinical decision support, radiology automation, or evidence-based workflow tools. The two conferences will likely attract different portions of the same organization, and they will use different language.

If you lead health IT operations or a digital health practice, treat these as distinct mandates. HIMSS26 is your venue for compliance, interoperability standards, budget cycles, and vendor contract negotiations. The AI in Healthcare Forum is where your innovation team learns what's shipping, what's failing in production, and what clinicians actually need.
Do not send the same person to both unless they work across both domains. Do not assume the keynote at one will address the priorities of the other. Plan travel and budget separately. If you attend neither, ask your peers which one their team learned more from; one will likely emerge as the industry anchor.
