Google bundles Gemini features under premium Intelligence brand
Google announced Gemini Intelligence during its pre-I/O Android showcase, bundling existing and new Gemini capabilities for premium Android devices like Galaxy S26 series phones. The company is expanding task automation beyond its current limitation to rideshare and food delivery apps to a "wider range of apps" rolling out soon (per Google).
Task automation now supports multimodal inputs. Users can provide screenshots or photos alongside voice and text prompts. Google's example: photographing a grocery list in notes app and having Gemini add those items to a shopping cart.
Create My Widget represents the most novel addition. Users describe desired functionality in natural language, and AI generates custom widgets. Google demonstrated a cyclist weather widget showing wind speed and precipitation, and a recipe dashboard surfacing "three high-protein meal prep recipes every week." These widgets sync to Wear OS devices.
Chrome on Android gains the same Gemini integration available on desktop, including webpage content sharing and AI questioning within the browser. Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers get auto-browse for task completion like appointment booking, starting late June rollout.
Gemini will appear optionally in Android autofill, connecting to Personal Intelligence features to pull information from Google Photos and Gmail for form completion, including license plate numbers from photos.
